What Instructional Design & Development contributes to Cardinal Health
Learning develops, deploys and evaluates learning solutions to support employee development and build organizational capability in alignment to business strategies. This function analyzes learning needs and develops training curricula, technologies, and programs. This function also manages trainings provided by third-parties and partners with leaders and subject matter experts within functions and business units to deliver learning.
Instructional Design & Development develops blended learning solutions optimized for unique subject matter areas and audiences, leveraging third-party and Learning Technologies capabilities. This job family analyzes employee learning needs and partners with subject matter experts and business management to gain input for course content. Instructional Design & Development develops general and technical content based on best practices, facilitates the introduction of new courses, and develops and monitors metrics for evaluating learning solutions' effectiveness.
Job Summary
Instructional designers at Cardinal Health play a critical role in analyzing, designing, and developing learning solutions that enhance employee development, strengthen organizational capabilities, and align with business strategies.
This function begins with a thorough learning analysis to identify training needs and develop curriculum that effectively address performance gaps. Instructional designers collaborate closely with subject matter experts and business stakeholders to ensure training initiatives are aligned with key performance goals and metrics. They also gather content and create scenario-based, action-oriented learning experiences that drive real-world application.
By ensuring that training solutions are engaging, effective, and strategically aligned, instructional designers contribute to the overall success of Cardinal Health by fostering employee growth, improving job performance, supporting business objectives, and serving customers.
Responsibilities
Partner with managers, Learning Business Partners (LBPs) and business SMEs as well as client pharmaceutical manufacturer stakeholders to design learning-based solutions that drive performance and business goals
Develop a wide range of training materials including presentations, participant and facilitator guides, course evaluations, online learning modules, exercises and mentor playbooks.
Apply design principles and methodology to create a training approach that drives performance and focuses on targeted outcomes
Create design documents and storyboards that map content to business goals
Ensure the instructional integrity of course design through systematic design, development, and evaluation
Build and maintains relationships by consistently designing highly innovative, interactive learning designs that focus on key learning behaviors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Master's degree in Instructional Design preferred
6+ years of Learning & Development experience, including design and development of learning solutions and consultation skills preferred
CPLP or any certification from Professional Associations for Instructional Design preferred
Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences Industry background preferred
Patient services/reimbursement hub experience preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in the development of program design, storyboarding and implementation of learning initiatives that drive performance
Proven ability to identify key behaviors and translate into learning designs
Ability to write scenario-based, impact driven learning questions
Proven ability to develop engaging, action-based curriculum to teach key behaviors and enhance user metrics
Experience in using authoring software (including, but not limited to: Articulate Suite, Adobe Suite, Vyond Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
Able to adapt an agile way of working where impact is delivered through speed and innovation
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with and influence business partners
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure with multiple deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience managing large scale learning projects spanning multiple internal and external departments
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and deliver quality results within aggressive timeframes
Must be willing to work 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time Zone with flexibility to attend Central Time zone meetings occasionally
