About the Role
Join a growing electrical contracting firm specializing in commercial, residential, and industrial projects. As an Electrical Estimator, you will enhance the company’s tendering capabilities, managing takeoffs and estimates for projects between $400,000 and $2 million. This role supports expansion into larger construction projects using tools like Ground Plan and Simpro.
Key Responsibilities
Estimation & Tendering
- Perform detailed takeoffs using Ground Plan for commercial and industrial projects.
- Convert takeoff data into cost estimates and input them into Simpro.
- Apply accurate labor rates and material costs.
- Prepare and submit professional tender documentation.
- Manage multiple tenders, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for specialized pricing.
- Communicate with clients and builders on tender clarifications.
- Maintain and update estimation templates and pricing databases.
Technical Documentation & Systems
- Standardize and refine estimation workflows for efficiency.
- Maintain and transition estimation processes from spreadsheets to Simpro.
- Build and manage a materials and labor cost database.
Client & Supplier Communication
- Coordinate with suppliers for designs and pricing.
- Track and request supplier quotes.
- Ensure all tender submissions are complete and timely.
Success Metrics
- Maintain a high win rate on tenders.
- Ensure pricing accuracy and timely submissions.
- Reduce senior leadership review time.
- Successfully transition estimation workflows into Simpro.
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Electrical engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction takeoff software (Ground Plan).
- Knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
- Experience with project management software (Simpro preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
Preferred Experience
- Previous electrical estimation experience in the construction industry.
- Handling tenders for projects ranging from $400,000 to $2 million.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or educational sector projects.
- Background in supplier coordination and procurement.
- Streamlining and documenting estimation workflows.
