This is a 100% remote role for candidates based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia). Candidates can be located within a 2-hour commute from Alexandria, Virginia.

About the job:
The role involves applying appropriate operations research modeling techniques to create detailed models of input, output, and logical flow suitable for programming. The candidate will monitor the mathematical and programming aspects of projects to ensure alignment with model objectives, develop models utilizing simulation, and apply operations research methodologies to formulate economic analyses, benefit-cost studies, and risk assessments. The analyst must be an expert in cost analysis principles, including statistical concepts (standard deviation, confidence limits, expected value), financial analysis (ROI, discounting, inflation), and cost-accounting concepts (depreciation, amortization, overhead identification, and distribution).
Required Clearance:
Candidates must already have or be able to obtain a security clearance
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in operations research, with a focus on economic analysis, cost modeling, and IT problem modeling
- Expertise in applying operations research modeling techniques for detailed input/output/logical flow models suitable for programming
- Ability to develop models that utilize simulation
- Proficiency in defining and formulating economic analyses, benefit-cost studies, and risk assessments
- Expert knowledge of cost analysis principles, including statistical concepts (standard deviation, confidence limits, expected value), financial analysis (ROI, discounting, inflation), and cost-accounting concepts (depreciation, amortization, overhead identification, distribution)
- Strong understanding of cost modeling principles
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in an Agile or structured project environment
- Familiarity with Oracle-based application environments
- Knowledge of IT systems and their integration into cost and operations research models
- Experience with federal government or DoD-related projects
- Proficiency with simulation tools or software (e.g., MATLAB, R, or similar)
- Strong ability to translate complex analytical results into actionable insights
Salary Range:$110,000 - $123,939
