We are hiring adjunct faculty to teach in our MSN program. Faculty must have a DNP/PhD with preferred certifications in any of these specialties, CNE, NE-BC, NI-BC, FNP-BC, AGNP-BC, APHN-BC, and/or AHN-BC, and 3+ years of experience teaching and developing graduate-level courses. We prefer a candidate with experience serving as a peer evaluator or site visitor for CCNE or ACEN.

You will be responsible for teaching courses as assigned on a term-to-term basis and participating in department meetings and functions. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team of educators leading and preparing the next generation of nurses and health care professionals.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:

Teaching

Student Focused/Student Centered Approach:

  • Interact in a fair and impartial way with students
  • Support and assess student academic achievement
  • Counsel students within the field of nursing and uphold the regulations of the University
  • Motivate students to further their education and professional development

Instructional Excellence:

  • Follow the academic course syllabus for assigned courses
  • Ensure that course is accurate and ready prior to student activity
  • Present course material in a manner that will interest and motivate students
  • Effectively utilize class materials
  • Prepare and effectively explain homework, projects and tests
  • Maintain as a safe learning environment in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Encourage student input and analytical communication
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner (within 24 hours)
  • Promptly return graded student work within 72 hours of submission
  • Utilize effective instructional technique
  • Satisfy course learning objectives
  • Participate in course through announcements, discussion posts/lectures at least 3x/week
  • At least one hour per week of virtual office hours
  • Provide a recorded weekly course overview (with voice) for students to view
  • Maintain a social presence in the course by responding to student’s initial posts on the discussion board, posting announcements (weekly and as needed), answering emails within 24 hours, grading assignments in a timely manner, and providing a weekly launch post and summary

  • Adhere to University policies, including policies in the student and faculty handbook

Service

Administrative:

  • Enforce the University rules as published in the University Catalog
  • Report class attendance in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Notify Student Services when students are non-responsive or absent from class
  • Submit grades and records accurately and promptly
  • Report any course or University-related problems to the BSN Program Director

Professional:

  • Attend faculty and committee meetings
  • Actively participate in University activities
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues
  • Adapt to course assignments and scheduling needs
  • Participate when needed in curriculum and faculty development activities

Personal Development

  • Regular interaction with nursing and healthcare professionals through advisory boards, site visits or other structured contact
  • Participation in professional associations and societies

Research

  • Active reading and study in nursing
  • Participation in professional conferences, preferable as a presenter
  • Completion of professional seminars or continuing education courses in the teaching discipline
  • Study the art and science of teaching through reading peer-reviewed research
  • Complete professional development activities in accordance with the University professional development policy and the individual faculty member's professional development plan as outlined by the Program Director
  • Experiment with various teaching methods and share the results with colleagues.
Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required licensure: RN License, unencumbered

Required education: DNP/PhD degree

Required experience: 3+ Years of experience teaching and developing graduate level courses

Preferred Certifications: CNE, NE-BC, NI-BC, APHN-BC, and/or AHN-BC

Preferred experience: Accreditation, site visitor, or peer evaluator
