- Identify, assess, track and monitor risks to the mortgage division
- Create reporting, planning and monitoring for management to mitigate risk and maximize return-to-risk ratio
- Manage auditing function at the direction of the compliance department to ensure timeliness and quality
- Work with Secondary Marketing Officer to maintains current working knowledge of all investor, GSE, and other agency guidelines and ensure bank policies/procedures adhere, as well as make recommendations to management for applicable overlays (where appropriate and necessary)
- Ensure underwriting, branch support and other management teams are trained on all product guidelines and procedures
- Ensure underwriting department maintains the highest quality standards
- Review and decision escalations and policy exceptions
- Develops and executes strategic initiatives that support risk mitigation, loan salability, and compliance that adhere to the bank’s growth and customer service objectives;
- Allocates underwriting authority for staff, establishing their ability to accept risks
- Provides assistance in underwriting of difficult, complex accounts and resolves issues beyond the authority level of underwriting staff;
- Provides leadership, direction and management in the risk selection process beyond the capacity of underwriting staff;
- Assesses agency performance and recommends the appointment or cancellation of agents within the territory;
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues;
