The Vice President of Technology Strategy and Enterprise Architecture will define and execute Haleon’s global technology strategy to align with business priorities and industry trends. Reporting to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer, they will lead the Digital & Technology Strategy for Haleon, define underpinning technology capabilities, oversee enterprise architecture, cross-functional technology solution design, and critical enterprise governance.

This role requires a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise, and proven leadership in driving innovation, optimising systems, and managing risk in a fast-paced, global environment. Connected with tech companies on emerging technologies the incumbent will have the ability to assess maturity/readiness for scaling at Haleon over a 5-year horizon.

The position requires an impressive storyteller who is able to engage and inspire employees and stakeholders on the possibilities of technology, leading tech talks, executive team meetings, and board discussions on topics ranging from S4 to AI and 5G / IOT.

Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design

  • Strategic Alignment: Lead digital strategy aligned with the Haleon business strategy, focusing on both foundational and step-out business models, developing enterprise architecture to align technology capabilities with strategic objectives and challenges pace with competitor insights and emerging technology maturity

  • Frameworks & Standards: Develop and govern enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, controls, and system design patterns to ensure scalability and flexibility.

  • Cross-Functional Design: Oversee end-to-end solution design for critical technology initiatives.

  • Emerging Technologies: Identify and integrate cutting-edge technologies to maintain competitive advantage and drive business outcomes.

Strategic Influence & Leadership

  • Digital Strategy: Create and execute a horizon 1, 2 & 3 Digital Strategy with clear technology & deployment roadmap, balancing innovation with operational stability.

  • Thought Leadership: Provide strategic technology thought leadership, leveraging industry trends and external networks to inform decision-making.

  • Innovation Leadership: Build and lead innovation capabilities, fostering a culture of experimentation and collaboration.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Senior Stakeholder Influence: Regularly engage with cross-functional leaders, executive teams, and board members to align strategy and execution.

  • Vendor Relationships: Manage high-value (£m’s) strategic relationships with global technology partners, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery. Lead RFP and vendor selection processes, driving cost-effective and value-driven solutions.

  • Governance Frameworks: Establish and optimize IT governance frameworks, including Architecture Review Boards and technology standards.

  • Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements (e.g., SOX, GxP, GDPR) while mitigating technology-related risks.

  • Operational Stability: Oversee processes to ensure stability in global business operations, including financial reporting and enterprise system performance.

  • Cost Management: Act as the key interlock into financial approval processes, driving cost efficiency across the technology landscape.

Governance, Risk, & Compliance

  • Governance Frameworks: Establish and optimize IT governance frameworks, including Architecture Review Boards and technology standards.

  • Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements (e.g., SOX, GxP, GDPR) while mitigating technology-related risks.

  • Operational Stability: Oversee processes to ensure stability in global business operations, including financial reporting and enterprise system performance.

  • Cost Management: Act as the key interlock into financial approval processes, driving cost efficiency across the technology landscape.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Create high-Performing Teams: Lead and develop a global team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

  • Mentorship: Provide coaching and mentorship to build future leaders and technical experts.

  • Budget Oversight: Manage an annualized budget ensuring strategic allocation of resources.

Metrics & Business Outcomes

  • Performance Indicators: Define and track KPIs across engineering, infrastructure, data, and emerging technology initiatives.

  • Business Case Development: Build and evaluate ROI and TCO models to support decision-making and strategic investments.

  • Impact Assessment: Deliver measurable value by aligning technological initiatives with business outcomes.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Technical Expertise

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership, with a proven track record in enterprise architecture and tech strategy;

  • Commercial and business focused;

  • Expertise in architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, FEA) and integration across ERP, data, and shared dependencies;

  • Experience building scalable, cloud-native systems and utilizing open-source technologies;

  • Proven knowledge of Agile methodologies, DevOps, and distributed system design;

  • Strong familiarity with cutting-edge technologies (e.g., big data, AI, IoT, blockchain, mobile).

Leadership & Strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, board members, and external stakeholders;

  • Experience leading innovation initiatives and managing high-value vendor relationships;

Industry & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, GDPR, GxP);

  • Knowledge of the consumer health industry or similar supply chain environments preferred.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences;

  • Experience representing organizations at external events, such as conferences or industry panels.

  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with business case development and managing large budgets.
